"I have stated my concerns with Amazon long earlier the Election," Trump tweeted. Amazon did not immediately answer to PCMag's request for comment. Despite Trump'southward claims, Amazon says it collects state sales taxes in 45 US states and Washington, D.C.
Axios, citing v unnamed sources, on Thursday reported that the president is "obsessed" with Amazon.
"He'southward wondered aloud if there may exist whatsoever mode to get later Amazon with antitrust or competition law," i source told the news outlet.
Another source called the president'southward view of Amazon'due south relationship with the The states Post "inaccurate."
"The post part really makes a ton of money from Amazon," the source reportedly said.
The new comments come up after Trump in August 2022 tweeted that Amazon "is doing bully impairment to tax paying retailers." Trump has also repeatedly taken aim at another business Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos owns: the Washington Mail, calling it "a big tax shelter" for Amazon.
"If @amazon e'er had to pay off-white taxes, its stock would crash and it would crumble like a paper bag," he tweeted in 2022. "The @washingtonpost scam is saving it!"
